The newest member of the Saginaw Children’s Zoo is creating quite the…buzzard.

Sammy the turkey vulture is the newest addition to the Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square in Saginaw. She was rescued from the wild where the zoo said she was considered a “pest” for begging for food around humans and campsites.

The zoo said rescue groups tried to release her in new locations, but she always returned to the same spot.

“With little to no fear of people, this was a dangerous situation for her, and it was only a matter of time before she was hurt or killed,” the zoo said on Facebook. “The situation Sammy found herself in is one of the reasons why it is important to never feed wildlife your snacks.”

Sammy is temporarily living in the old bobcat exhibit in the Forgotten Forest. The zoo said the exhibit gives the vulture room to fly and show off her giant wingspan as she roams from perch to perch.

Welcome to the area, Sammy!
