SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Sanilac County man was injured on Saturday after a firecracker exploded in his vehicle.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. in Minden City.

The 58-year-old Deckerville man was attempting to make a U-turn and tried to throw a firecracker out the window. The firecracker struck the inside roof of the car and went off, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office.

There were no other passengers inside the vehicle at the time and investigators said alcohol is not a factor.

The man was taken to Deckerville Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
