The blogger created some controversy after he said Mid-Michigan tourists should stay out of town.

That upset some residents who know tourism is a big deal to the Great Lakes Bag Region.

"Tourism in Frankenmuth is our life blood," said Jim Engel, with the Bavarian Inn.

He has been in the tourism business for years. Engel understands not everyone embraces the large crowds of visitors converging on their town for the holiday weekend.

"There are always people that want to be in the heart of it all and be a part of all the action. And there are other people that want to avoid all of the action and all of the activities going on and they'll encourage others to do the same. But there are more people that say come and join the fun," Engel said.

The administrator of the Facebook page Saginaw County Police, Fire, and EMS Operations made a post blasting tourists. The author urged residents to avoid Birch Run and Frankenmuth, along with major highways because of too many out-of-towners, claiming many of them can't drive.

"We need the tourists around here," said Cheyanne Tremble, with Frankenmuth Carriage Co.

She said her business wouldn't survive without the revenue the travelers generate.

"We don't get that many Frankenmuth locals that come take carriage rides so in order to keep the business running and keep my job here, we need the tourists around here," Tremble said.

Alice Smith-Brown is one of those tourists. She visited Mid-Michigan from the Detroit area. It was her first time in Frankenmuth and she said she loved the experience.

"I cannot stop my life just because someone is angry about what's going on. So I'm here enjoying the day. It's a beautiful day and I'm just excited," Smith-Brown said.

TV5 reached out to the administrator of the Facebook page and they said they do not speak to the media regarding anything posted on their page.
