BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

Police need help identifying a man who they say robbed the home of an injured woman.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5 in the 1000 block of E. Madeville Street in the city of Burton.

Investigators said a 70-year-old female was woken by a loud noise, believing someone was trying to break into her home. After getting out of bed, she tripped and fell, striking her head against a fan.

She managed to crawl outdoors and began screaming for help.

The woman told police suddenly a man, who identified himself as “Jonathan,” appeared. The man pretended to call 911 and then walked into the woman’s home and stole items from inside, according to officials.

The man was last seen walking eastbound on Madeville Street, approaching Camden Avenue.

Police said he never helped the injured woman.

She was able to crawl back into the home and called 911 herself. The woman was taken to the hospital, but due to the extent of her injuries she lost an eye.

The man was described as a husky to muscular white male wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a white ball cap with black rim.

He was seen searching for and picking up cigarette butts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Burton Police Department at 810-742-2542 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.
