GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A crash involving a U-Haul truck and tanker carrying human waste closed three lanes Wednesday afternoon on northbound I-75 in Genesee County.

The crash happened at M-57, or Vienna Road, at exit 131.

Kirk Todd with the Clio Fire Department told TV5 Hazmat crews had to clean the human waste from the right hand lanes after a U-Haul truck hit the back of the tanker as the tanker was entering I-75 northbound.

Hazmat had to throw sand down to soak up the waste. Once it was in “solid” form, it was removed.

The driver of the U-Haul was taken to the hospital for back injuries.

The tanker driver reported no injuries.

Only the left lane of northbound I-75 was open for several hours. The scene is now cleared.
