FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

It’s motorcycle mania in Mid-Michigan as the Bikes on Bricks event kicked off Friday.

The roar of motorcycles echoed off the buildings of downtown Flint and it was music to the ears of Deshawn Perry, Jr.

He hasn't quite graduated to the motored bike just yet but peddled around with his dad on the opening night of bikes on the bricks.

"The kids get to see something new, so it's definitely a good thing,” said Deshawn’s father, Deshawn Perry, Sr.

He was locked in as police officers practiced their skills in the obstacle course.

"It's something positive, it's something we need. Like I said, we love coming to it, we love coming down here,” Perry, Sr. said.

On this the 10th anniversary of the event, organizers put together an action-packed weekend.

People watched in disbelief as a daredevil rode parallel to the ground on the wall of death and many held their breath while performers rode around in the globe of steel.

"To have all these peoples and watching this daredevil biking that I'd never do, hey, it's fun out here today,” said Rainmaker, Flint Street Rider Motorcycle Club president.

All weekend you can catch the acts and of course all of the bikes on the bricks showcased in downtown Flint.

Saturday, things get going early. Police will be back out on the flat top, training on the skills course.

Erik Estrada, the icon from “Chips,” will also be at the event.
