MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

A former Mid-Michigan college student is facing multiple felonies, accused of sexting with a 12-year-old girl.

Central Michigan University Police tell TV5 that Brendan Baia,19, is accused of sending inappropriate messages to the 12-year-old Mt. Pleasant girl throughout 2016 while he was a student.

Investigators report the girl’s mother saw some of the more than 100 messages that included nude photos and reported them to police at the end of August.

There is no indication that the two actually met in person, according to police.

Baia, who is from Jackson, is facing 3 counts of using a computer to commit a crime, 1 count of accosting children for immoral purposes, 1 count of possessing child sexually abusive material and 1 count of distributing sexually abusive material.

Officials are investigating to see if there are more victims out there.
