LEELANAU COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan woman was arrested, accused of breaking into unlocked cars.

Deputies with the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office were called to South West Bayshore Drive in Suttons Bay on Sept. 18 after witnesses reported seeing a woman going through vehicles.

When they arrived, they found an intoxicated 21-year-old Mt. Pleasant woman.

Witnesses said the woman got into two unlocked vehicles.

The woman denied it when deputies spoke to her, and provided them with a false name, deputies said.

Investigators found the woman was apparently attempting to find a way to Peshawbestown.

She was arrested for getting into the vehicles, being drunk and disorderly, and providing false information to law enforcement.
