SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

An 11-month-old boy was airlifted and several others hurt after a van and pickup truck crashed in Sanilac County.

It happened on Tuesday, Sept. 20 about 8:16 p.m. on M-19 at the intersection of Burnsline Road in Speaker Township.

Investigators said a 2014 Chrysler Town and County van driven by a 41-year-old man from Croswell was heading eastbound on Burnsline Road when he drove through a stop sign at M-19.

The van was struck by a northbound 2011 Dodge pickup driven by a 57-year-old man from Peck. The pickup hit the van on the passenger side causing it to roll over and come to rest upside down in a field.

The truck came to rest against an electric pole.

The van had four occupants, the 41-year-old driver, a 35-year-old female passenger from Croswell, and their children - a 3-year-old girl and 11-month-old boy.

The woman had to be freed from the wreckage by Speaker Township Fire Department.

The 11-month-old boy was treated at the scene by first responders and later flown to Hurley Hospital in Flint.

The other occupants of the van were also treated at the scene and taken to McKenzie Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The driver of the pickup was treated at the scene and taken to Port Huron McLaren for treatment.

Police said it’s unknown if seatbelts were worn by the adults in the van, but both children were in child seats. The driver of the pickup was also wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to officials.
