Chelsea Clinton to visit Flint today

FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Flint water crisis brings a former first daughter to Mid-Michigan Friday.

Chelsea Clinton will be in Flint to get an update on the Water Works Initiative she helped launch with Mayor Karen Weaver earlier this year.

The visit follows her stops in East Lansing and Grand Rapids Thursday where she talked about her mother's proposal for paid family leave.

“It covers mothers and fathers who have given birth naturally, who have adopted, who have become foster parents, as well as recognizing that kind of becoming a parent isn't the only kind of medical or health event in our lives. Sometimes we get sick, sometimes we have loved ones who get sick,” Clinton said.

The Clinton Foundation has advocated for 12 weeks of fully paid leave for primary caregivers and six paid weeks for secondary caregivers.

Men and women choose who is primary and who is secondary.

You can count on TV5 for complete coverage of Chelsea Clinton’s visit to Flint starting at noon.
