ANN ARBOR, MI (WNEM) -

University of Michigan students will now be able to decide what pronoun they want to be called by their professors and other members of the staff.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the university is making the move to help with inclusiveness.

Students will not be able to select “he”, “she”, or “ze” in the campus directory. Those pronounces will be put on class rosters.

Ze is a gender-neutral pronoun used in place of masculine or feminine pronouns.

U of M isn’t the first university to make this move. Eastern Michigan University also lets students pick their preferred pronoun.
