GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Health officials are investigating the 15th reported case of Legionnaires’ disease in Genesee County for 2016.

No further details on the cases, reported to the media on Nov. 22, have been released.

Legionnaires’ disease is a type of pneumonia with symptoms including fever, chills and cough. It’s spread through moisture in the air.

It can be found in small droplets of water ranging from a hot tub that hasn’t been cleaned properly, to air conditions, plumbing systems and even fountains.

There is speculation surrounding a possible link between legionella and the Flint water crisis, but no link between the two has been made because of a court order block McLaren Hospital and the Genesee County Health Department from talking to the state.

If you think you’ve been infected, you should see a doctor right away.
