A local community is pulling together to help a newly-engaged woman find something very important to her.

Suzy Keyes said her heart “just sank” the moment she realized she lost her engagement ring.

"I've always just wanted a little wedding ring, a little princess wedding ring, and I finally got it then I lost it,” Keyes said.

Keyes agreed to tie the knot with her fiancé in August, but before she could get the engagement ring fitted, it somehow slid right off her finger.

She was at the Chippewa Nature Center last Sunday when it happened.

“"My heart just sank. I was over in that area and I was walking and I look down and I realized it wasn't on my finger and I could feel my face just go white,” Keyes said.

Every day since, she's been out with a metal detector trying to find it.

Thankfully, she's not alone.

People throughout the area have joined in the search all in an effort to reunite Keyes with her ring.

“My kids go to the preschool here and all the teachers know about it and I mean I've seen people with metal detectors walking around and I've seen a lot of people looking,” Keyes said.

The Chippewa Nature Center is also doing its part. Spokesperson Dennis Pilaske said employees and volunteers alike have spent time looking for the ring.

“We're really hoping she does find it we know it's a really important piece for her and nothing yet at this point though so we're hopeful,” Pilaske said.

Keyes believes the ring fell off near the Maple Syrup House at the Nature Center. She admits, though, the ring could be anywhere in the vast area.

Despite the long odds of finding it, she believes with all of her heart the ring will be found.

"I know it's somewhere. Just got to find it,” she said.
