MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

A man is in custody for attempted armed robbery at a Mt. Pleasant store.

It happened on Thursday, Sept. 29 about 2:28 p.m. at the Target store on East Blue Grass Road in Union Township.

Investigators said when a clerk at the Starbucks counter inside the Target asked 36-year-old Nathan Christopher Clark from Grand Rapids what he wanted to order, he replied saying he "wanted all the money in the register." Clark then laughed.

Clark paid for a cup of coffee and before leaving the counter told the clerk he had a gun, but it was “not a very big one.”

He then walked away into the store. Staff began monitoring his movements as they called 911.

When police arrived, several officers formed a perimeter outside the building to prevent more customers from entering the store. Police made contact with Clark without incident.

He was interviewed and taken into custody for attempted armed robbery.

No weapon was found on the suspect.
