CARROLLTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A happy little boy is enjoying his new wheels as the result of an act of kindness that went above and beyond.

"It's a Mongoose BMX. I really like it and I appreciate that I got a really nice bike and it's just awesome,” Justin Spencer said.

When Officer Jim Kellet with the Carrollton Township Police Department found out Justin’s old bike was falling apart, he went to the department’s lost and found bike lot and found a new one he thought was abandoned.

Unfortunately, when Justin rode the bike to school the next day another student’s mom recognized it as her son’s stolen bike.

Heartbroken, Justin gave the bike back to the other student.

Kellet, an officer not to be outdone by an administrative mix-up, came through again by promising another beat up and damaged bike from the lot.

However, when Kellet showed up with the bike, Justin and his mom were in for a surprise.

“Well, come to find out, when he opened the door there’s this brand new bike and Officer Kellet didn’t have to do that. I wanted to cry,” Robin Hughes, Justin’s mom said.

The bike left Justin beaming.
