An attempted traffic stop lead to a chase that ended with a banged-up police cruiser and a suspect in custody.

It started at 7:38 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Hazel Street in the city of St. Louis.

Police report that a driver made an improper turn in front of a police officer, and when officers tried to stop the vehicle, it continued on.

Officers followed the vehicle with lights and sirens on into Isabella County.

Other departments were notified, and when the vehicle got on northbound US-127 it collided with a Shepherd Police vehicle and spun out in the median just north of the Shepherd exit.

The Shepherd Police car had some damage to the front end, but no officers were hurt.

The suspect had prior convictions for operating while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license.

St. Louis Police report that the suspect did not travel at excessive speeds during the event.
