A former president made his way across Mid-Michigan Monday.

Bill Clinton was in town to campaign for his wife, Hillary Clinton, and to urge voters to register ahead of the deadline next Tuesday.

Clinton made two stops today, the Dow Event Center in Saginaw then down I-75 to the University of Michigan Flint’s Northbank center.

One by one Hillary Clinton supporters streamed into the Dow to see her husband speak.

"I want you to go out there and tell people why you ought to vote for her. Why it will change our lives for the better? We can have broadly shared prosperity. We can have upward mobility. We can have a decent retirement. We can recreate a strong middle class and give poor people a chance to work their way into it. And we can do it in a country that's safer and more united. Where every kid has got a chance to go to college or find a decent job with proper training,” Bill Clinton said at the rally.

For the most part, Bill focused on his wife’s economic plan, rather than on her opponent, Republican Donald Trump.

"We have now had 79 straight months of job growth for the first time in decades. And as a result finally, finally, finally this year we had the biggest increase in personal income we've had in a long time. And for the first time since I left office the biggest gains have been in the bottom eighty percent of the workforce,” Bill Clinton said.

Clinton also urged everyone to get out the vote.

Michigan is a battleground state in this year's election. Most polls show Hillary Clinton with a single digit lead in the Great Lakes state over Trump.

"We need more voters and voter registration is open until October 11 so go register somebody between now and October the 11th,” Bill Clinton said.

The Michigan Republican party responded to the Bill Clinton's visit today, criticizing Hillary Clinton for not visiting the state herself.

Bill and Chelsea Clinton have both been in Michigan within the last two weeks but Hillary Clinton has not made an appearance here in 53 days.

Trump's campaign issued a statement regarding Bill Clinton's visit today. It reads:

“Hillary Clinton should not send one more surrogate into the Great Lakes State until she actually shows up herself and faces the tough questions Michiganders have for her.

In the meantime, we call on Bill Clinton to answer the following questions:

·Why does Hillary refuse to come back to Michigan?  Is it because she is already conceding defeat, or does she just not care about getting votes from hardworking Michiganders?

· Does Bill Clinton support TPP, and if not, why did he change from his support for NAFTA when he was President?

· Why did Hillary support NAFTA and TPP?

· Why did Hillary defend NAFTA during the last week’s debate?

· Why didn’t Hillary answer Mr. Trump when he asked what President Obama did with TPP that caused her to flip flop?

· Why did Bill Clinton say the we should rebuild Detroit with unvetted refugees, and then call it a ‘pretty good deal’ for Detroit?

We look forward to Bill Clinton’s responses, and maybe even Hillary’s if she ever decides to show up in Michigan again.”
