A local video is going viral for all the right reasons after an officer took a break and shot some hoops with kids in Mid-Michigan.

"I was kind of nervous but you can't really nervous because everybody is the same,” Colton Edwards said.

It was a memorable moment and valuable experience for the Edwards family.

A Grand Blanc Township Police officer stopped by their house for a game of basketball.

“The kids are out here playing every day after school and one of them had said it would be so cool if the cops stopped and played basketball with us, because they pass by here all the time,” said Stefanie Edwards, Colton’s mom.

Wanting to make that wish a reality, Edwards posted that request on the Grand Blanc Township Police Department's Facebook page saying her kids wanted to challenge them to a game of hoops.

"They responded back ‘Ok, game on! Tell us when and where.’ And a half-hour later Sergeant Quinn pulled in,” Edwards said.

Sgt. Arron Quinn was the first officer the boys had ever interacted with, leaving a lasting impression.

"They're not mean. They're just great people here to help us,” Chris Griffin said.

"I love it because with everything that's going on right now, they need to see that their not just officers, their people,” Edwards said.

The kids said playing with Quinn was fun but it would've been even more fun if they didn't lose by three points. They said they'll be practicing their lay ups to make sure they win the upcoming rematch.

"This time I'm ready, I'm so ready,” Colton said.

Another officer has already reached out telling the kids to get ready because he's bringing his A-game for round two of cops vs. kids.
