DETROIT (AP) -

A Flint man who acted as his own attorney at trial a decade ago when he was 18 and was released this year after maintaining he was wrongfully convicted is back behind bars.

The Detroit Free Press reports 29-year-old Omar Pouncy has been held since late September in the Oakland County Jail on a weapons charge. On Monday, the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office said it would try to reinstate Pouncy's original conviction and 75-year sentence.

Pouncy was released in March.

The carjackings were in 2005. Pouncy says he acted as his own attorney because a Genesee County judge wouldn't let him hire a lawyer.

Defense attorney David Moffitt later worked with Pouncy on his case and hired him as legal assistant. Moffitt says he can't believe the new charge.
