BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Curbside service is coming to a popular Mid-Michigan supermarket.

The pilot program began on Oct. 3 at the Meijer store located on E. Wilder Road in Bay City and is designed to make life easier for customers.

“Our customers are busier than ever and this is a service we felt we needed to provide our customers,” said Peter Strong, a Meijer company spokesperson.

The service allows customers to order their products online and schedule a time for pick up. Employees will hand pick and bag your groceries. All you have to do is sign into Meijer.com, go to store, select what you’re looking for and add it to your cart.

It’s already available in more than a dozen stores across Michigan.

The curbside service will be free for the first 30 days and then a $6.99 fee with be charged.

In Metro Detroit, some Meijer locations offer at-home grocery delivery.

Strong said as curbside grows, he hopes to one day offer that service in Mid-Michigan as well.
