3 arrested after man assaulted with pipe wrench

HARRISON, MI (WNEM) -

Three people are in jail after police said they beat a man with a metal pipe wrench.

Clare County deputies responded to the assault call about 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hayes Township Park near Harrison.

The 67-year-old victim was conscious when police arrived and was able to name his attackers and a description of their car.

Deputies located the vehicle within four minutes of the original call.

One of the suspects inside the car had blood on their clothes, according to officials. 

The suspects, Martin McGill, 44, Brian Fodo, 42, and Jessica Lucas, 27, were arrested. All three of them are from Harrison.

McGill and Lucas already had warrants for their arrest out of Clare County, the Clare County Sheriff's Department said. 

The victim was transported to Midland hospital for further treatment.

No further information on his condition has been released.

McGill was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and larceny more than $200 and under $1,000. His bond was set at $1 million.

Fodo was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, accessory after that fact to a felony and habitual offender. His bond was set at $20,000.

Lucas was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and accessory after the fact to a felony. Her bond was set at $500,000.

All three remain lodged in the Clare County Jail.
