MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

More changes could be on the way to how schools test your child.

The State Board of Education met Tuesday to hear a presentation from the Michigan Department of Education.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the department wants to make some changes to the new M-STEP standardized test after more than half of Michigan students failed it.

In the proposed changes, the test would only be given in grades four and seven instead of three through eight.

Students would also take a new exam at the start and end of the school year to gauge their improvement.

The board could decide on a final plan before the end of the year.
