BIRMINGHAM, Mich. -

Two Detroit-area elementary schools are banning clown outfits for their annual Halloween festivities.

The Detroit Free Press reports the principal at Beverly Elementary School sent out a blast email to parents on Friday, informing them of the changes to this year’s festivities.

The principal said students on the playground were talking about creepy clowns, causing others to become afraid of recess and worry clowns would come to the school and harm them.

The ban is also in place at Pembroke Elementary School.

Their principal told families any adults who arrive at the school dressed as a clown will not be allowed in the building. Any students will remain in the office until a change of clothes can be brought from home.

The recent string of alleged creepy clown sightings has also been reported in Mid-Michigan.
