GLADWIN COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 49-year-old man who police said assaulted two people during a fight has gone before a judge.

Students and parents in Beaverton School District had a scare on Friday, Oct. 14 while police searched for the armed man.

Gladwin County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of “shots fired” and found two victims physically assaulted after a fight escalated and turned violent when the man pulled a gun, police said. 

Both victims are said to be OK.

Beaverton Schools were warned to shut down ahead of classes while the attacker was located.

Kelly Morrow was found and arrested shortly after.

He went before a judge on Oct. 17 on multiple charges including assault by strangulation, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, assault with a dangerous weapon, felonious assault, felony firearm and habitual offender, 4th offense.

If convicted on the charges he could face up to life in prison.

He's scheduled before a judge again on Oct. 27.
