SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A man faces several felony charges for a crime spree that ended with a crash.

The spree started with an armed robbery at the Clark Gas Station on Michigan Avenue about 5 a.m. on Monday.

Officers with the Saginaw Police Department arrived at the scene and interviewed the victim. The victim provided officers with a description of the suspect, 59-year-old Willie Hill.

Police searched for Hill all morning. About 11:20 a.m. they were dispatched to the Food Basket store on W. Remington for a carjacking, police said. A woman told police a man took her black Ford Escape.

The description of the vehicle stolen was dispatched to all of the officers in Saginaw County.

About eight minutes after the carjacking, police received a call regarding another armed robbery. That incident happened at the Family Dollar on Sheridan Avenue, police said.

While officers were responding to the carjacking and armed robbery calls, a traffic officer located the stolen vehicle.

The officer followed the vehicle until backup units arrived to the area. Officers then attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect began to flee, police said.

The pursuit lasted about three minutes and ended with Hill ramming the front of a Michigan State Police vehicle near Atwater and Park, police said.

Hill then fled the vehicle on foot. Officers used a stun gun to apprehend him.

The MSP trooper inside the vehicle received minor injuries, but still helped Saginaw officers apprehend the suspect. The trooper was then treated at an area hospital and released shortly after.

"Anybody that has an accident that severe and cannot only get out of his patrol car and chase the suspect down, but be OK after that. I think he's very lucky," Saginaw Police Lt. Craig Bell said.

The MSP vehicle and the stolen vehicle were totaled in the crash, police said.

The speed of both vehicles is unknown at this time, but police do not believe they were excessive.

Hill was arraigned Friday for several major felonies.
