FRANKENMUTH, MI (WNEM) -

Voting is underway in a contest that could bring a good chunk of money to a charity that enhances pediatric care across Mid-Michigan.

For the second straight year, local credit unions are participating in a nationwide challenge called Love my Credit Union. It's a campaign to help people in need around the country, not just in Mid-Michigan.

"We knew we needed to be involved with it so we can help local charities in our area that are deserving," said Jenny Bickel, marketing manager at Frankenmuth Credit Union.

The credit union posted a video to their Facebook page highlighting their community's involvement and support of local charities. Residents can decide if any of their local credit unions will win one of the nationwide prizes.

If the credit union wins, they will donate the cash to Covenant Hospital in support of healthy kids.

"It goes along with that giving and it's going to be great to start the new year off knowing we can get equipment to give to the hospital for these babies," said Heather Appold, Covenant Kids coordinator.
