MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

Four Mid-Michigan students were among Wendy’s High School Heisman Award State Finalists.

The college scholarship program recognizes young men and women who believe that “good enough is never really good enough.”

More than 60,000 students nationwide have been profiled through the program to inspire the senior class of tomorrow.

Nikki T. Sorgi of Henry Ford II High School in Sterling Heights and Jason Whitens of North Central Area Junior/Senior High School in Powers were both state winners this year, advancing them to the next round of the competition where five senior males and five senior females will be chosen as National Finalists.

State winners received a $1,000 college scholarship in addition to a silver medal, a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Winner patch and a $50 Wendy’s gift card.

Four Mid-Michigan students were also among a group of 20 state finalists.
