MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

If you had trouble paying your energy bill earlier, it wasn't just you. 

Consumers Energy confirmed to TV5 an automate bill pay and telephone customer inquiry system that serves nearly two million customers went off line Monday morning.

It was restored shortly before 2 p.m.

The issue was believed to be related to system maintenance upgrades that were done over the weekend.

The system, based in their Jackson, Michigan headquarters, allows customers to call with questions about their bill statements or to handle any issues online.
