Bra decorating contest in support of breast cancer awareness

GLADWIN, MI (WNEM) -

Just days remain for the third annual “Bra-La-La” decorating contest and competition. Hosted by the volunteers of MidMichigan Medical Center – Gladwin, more than 80 creative bras will be on display beginning Monday, Oct. 24, in the atrium of the Riverwalk Place, 777 W. Cedar Avenue in Gladwin.

Community members, Mid Michigan Community College employees, and volunteers and employees of MidMichigan Medical Center – Gladwin, are just some of the numerous individuals and businesses that purchased and decorated bras in support of breast health needs for underserved women and men in the Gladwin community.

The public can view the creations and vote for their favorite entry for $1 per vote. The bra receiving the most votes will be announced at an event to be held at the Riverwalk Place on Friday, Oct. 28. Bras will be modeled during a live auction by local male Medical Center dignitaries, volunteers and local business owners.

“Due to outstanding participation from our wonderful community, we have received so many entries that we need everyone to come out and vote during the week of October 24 as we may only have time to live auction the top vote getters,” said Cyndi Adamec, volunteer, who is also serving as the event’s coordinator.

Tickets for the Friday, Oct. 28, event are $30 per person, which includes entry into the event, two drink tickets (wine, beer or pop) and a variety of hors d’oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased at the Medical Center Gift Shop, 515 Quarter Street in Gladwin, Chic Boutique, 777 W. Cedar Avenue in Gladwin, or by calling Cyndi Adamec at (989) 426-4889.
