FLINT, MI (AP) -

A group of elected officials is scheduled to discuss funding systems for Michigan municipalities, including Flint.

The Michigan Municipal League will host the "Save Michigan Cities" panel Tuesday afternoon at Mott Community College's Regional Technology Center Auditorium in Flint.

The panel is expected to help raise awareness of the financial crisis facing some cities and villages in the state. U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee, state Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich, Pontiac Mayor Deirdre Waterman and Ypsilanti Mayor Pro Tem Lois Allen-Richardson will participate in the discussion.

Flint was under state management when it switched from Detroit's water system in 2014 to the Flint River to save money. That water was not treated with anti-corrosive chemicals, causing lead to leach from old water lines.
