MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI (AP) -

Federal prosecutors have filed a second case of alleged public corruption in suburban Detroit.

The FBI says Macomb Township Trustee Clifford Freitas demanded and accepted money from his employer to help it get a contract with the township in Macomb County.

The FBI says Freitas was excluded from the bid process but still was able to get inside information. The evidence includes secretly recorded phone calls.

Investigators say Freitas received $7,500. He's also accused of seeking $35,000 more. His LinkedIn page says he worked for Rizzo Environmental Services, a trash hauler, until this month.

Freitas will appear Tuesday in Detroit federal court. He couldn't immediately be reached for comment. A phone number is not listed.

A Clinton Township official recently was charged with taking bribes.
