Woman seeks help after losing job, car in same day

She lost her job and she was on a mission to find a new one when her car went up in smoke.

The smoke could be seen from miles away.

"I just sat there and watched it. I don't think it's really hit me yet that my car just blew up," Makenzie MacDonald said.

MacDonald said she lost her job on Tuesday and was trying to find a new job when her car caught on fire.

"I immediately hit it trying to find a new job and had a lead, was ready to go, calling them, 'Hey I have a new car now.' And it just, it went up in flames, literally," MacDonald said.

She said she was on her way to an interview when she heard a clicking sound. Then she saw smoke. MacDonald pulled over, got out of her car and saw flames underneath. A passerby told her it was time to go.

"She's like, 'No, it's going to blow. It's on fire.' I'm like OK. So I immediately just grabbed all my stuff and took it to the woman's car and sure enough, 10 minutes later it's up in flames. Just going and I just stood there crying. I didn't know what to do," MacDonald said.

She said she's thankful nobody was hurt and the car likely caught on fire because it didn't have enough oil. MacDonald didn't have insurance and is jobless without a car.

She is asking for help to buy a new car. She created a GoFundMe page in hopes her luck will change.

"Just hoping to get funds to get a new car cause until I get a job I'm kind of out of luck," MacDonald said.
