MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

A new app aims to keep your children safe should they ever go missing.

"Safety Central" is the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's free app designed to let parents and guardians protect their families and act quickly should their child go missing.

The app includes a Digital Child ID Kit that allows parents to save potentially life-saving information about their kids, including photos and digital fingerprint images. It also reminds users when it's time to update the photos.

There is also a Missing Children Search feature that lets users view posters of children missing in their area and make a report to NCMEC if they have any information.

The NCMEC will also send news, trends and safety tips to those who download the app.

The app is available for download on iOS & Android devices.
