FENTON, MI (WNEM) -

A local all women's barbershop style singing group is looking for new talent.

“Because we’re women and we do everything for everybody else, and this is what we do for us,” said Jeanne Lunderberg, the director of Fenton Lakes Chorus of Sweet Adeline’s International.

The group travels all over the state, and even internationally, to perform as part of the worldwide organization Sweet Adeline’s International.

With 28 members, Fenton Lakes Chorus is looking for talent of any age.

“Our youngest member is 14 and our oldest member is probably 80.”

Fenton Lakes Chorus rehearses every Wednesday at the Caretel Inns of Linden.

They invite anyone interested in becoming a member to join their rehearsal, as well as a barbershop boot camp event.

Caretel Inns manager Rodney Roberson is thrilled to house the rehearsals, and even showcase the event on Nov. 9.

“When I walked down the hall earlier and I could hear their voices, it was like the radio was on. It was like streaming through the hallways, it echoes. The guests, the families, everybody, it just completes us.”

Associate director of Fenton Lakes Chorus, Nancy Liedel, says she’s been a member of the group for almost 33 years.

She said to say she is passionate about the group would be putting it lightly.

“The harmony is the thing that caught me right away. It’s a very close, tight harmony that creates sympathetic notes and it just, it gets you. I’m getting goose-flush just talking about it.”
