SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Patrol are out in full force as local cities work to cut down on house fire this Halloween.

Emergency responders and volunteers are on Arson Watch, keeping an eye out for suspicious activity from dusk ‘til dawn.

The Angel’s Night patrols were out last night in Flint and Saginaw, and they’ll be out again Monday night.

“It's important that we keep the area and the city safe,” Debra Murphy said.

Murphy with the Arson Watch is part of a group patrolling for suspicious activity.

“Free from as much crime, fire, and to help the police out,” Murphy said.

Volunteers wore brightly colored shirts and flashing lights on tops of their cars so they were easily recognizable as they scanned Saginaw Streets and called in any unusual activity.

Debbie Melkonian said she hoped their presence will deter crime.

“We are hoping that anyone that was planning on doing anything they will change their minds because we have a hundred volunteers out there patrolling all parts of the city,” Melkonian said.

Police are also enforcing a curfew for anyone 17 years of age or younger.
