SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A new program designed to help save lives has come to Mid-Michigan.

CMU Health invites you to learn about its new CenteringPregnancy program. The program aims to improve the chance of babies surviving and lower the infant mortality rate.

"This innovative way of providing care not only has been shown to improve outcomes, most notably preterm birth, but also results in a more supportive, enjoyable and empowering care experience for the women and providers who participate," said Erica Canales, Assistant Program Director, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, CMU Health.

The program leads expectant mothers through their prenatal care process with other mothers with similar delivery dates. It allows the mothers to feel more at ease with their doctors and results in fewer pre-term births and better health for the babies.

An open house to learn more about the program will be held on November 1.
