OWOSSO, MI (WNEM) -

Police are investigating an assault that took place on Halloween.

They believe the assault stemmed from a road rage incident between the female victim and the male suspect.

It happened about 11:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Owosso Walmart.

The victim pulled into the parking lot from M-21 and parked her vehicle. The suspect followed her and parked his vehicle behind her vehicle, the Michigan State Police said.

The suspect rolled down his window and spit in the victim's face, police said. He then exited his vehicle and punched the woman in the face and fled the scene.

The woman had her child with her at the time of the incident.

The suspect is a white male in his early to mid-20s. He is about 5'10" with dark hair and a slim build.

He was driving a mid-2000 dark blue four-door SUV that could have been a Chevrolet Trail Blazer with a car bra on the front, police said.

If you have any information on the assault or the suspect vehicle call 911.
