Mom finds pill in daughter's Halloween candy

Posted: Updated:

It's every parent's worst nightmare to find a potentially harmful and dangerous object inside their child's Halloween candy.

That's what happened to one family in Mid-Michigan.

After a night of trick-or-treating the family's young daughter decided to partake in some her loot. The package of SweeTarts she opened was sealed, but inside was more than just candy. There was also a small pill. It remains a mystery how the pill got inside the candy.

Nichelle Harrison is sending a warning to families who may have gone trick-or-treating in the area of Adams Boulevard Monday night.

"She's like, 'Can I have a piece of candy before I go to bed?' And we're like, 'Sure.' So she pulls the candy out, she picks up the skull and bones, SweeTarts. Pulls it out, she's looking at it and I'm like there's a pill. A little pink pill just come out the bag," Harrison said.

For 7-year-old Lauren trick-or-treating will never be the same.

"We're not going trick-or-treating anymore," she said.

Harrison filed a police report with the Saginaw Police Department. She said they examined the pull and told her it was likely used for birth control.

"Who would do such a thing for a kid's holiday," Harrison said.

She went to Facebook to warn other parents about what happened.
