A retiree has a problem no homeowner wants. When it rains it pours inside of her house.

The leaks have caused damage throughout the house and she needs more than a patch job. She needs a brand new roof so she called the TV5 Rescue Squad.

"They can't come for Thanksgiving because the roof is leaking. I mean, we can't even have Thanksgiving dinner," Alberta Davis said.

She thought she was in the final stretch of her Flint home repairs, but now she needs her roof replaced and it's going to cost almost $4,000.

"I called another place, they said $3,500 for the whole roof to be put on. But I don't know whether they can patch it or not. I have no idea," Davis said.

She is retired from her job of driving a Grand Blanc Township school bus after she was deemed disabled. While Davis is on disability, the checks don't stretch far enough to cover her roof.

She said she's been renovating her home for the past four years and she's already patched her roof once, which she thought would solve the problem.

"Thinking that we're done, ya know? Like OK, I'm finished. I can maybe get some carpet or whatever. And then the leak came again," Davis said.

She called two different roofing companies and reached out to local organizations as well, but had no luck. She either doesn't meet the requirements or has to be placed on a three to five year waiting list.

Davis said she simply cannot wait that long. She is asking for any type of help, whether it's a donation or roofing supplies.

"Hopefully, you know I can still persevere and get the job done. You know, hopefully with some help. I just need a little bit of help," she said.
