SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Saginaw High School drumline kicked off the 15th annual Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

For Dale Gooding, this is one of the best nights of his life.

“I just haven't got enough words to really do any more than wow,” Gooding said.

Gooding was one of seven individuals, two teams and one group to be enshrined.

“I’ve been very fortunate and been involved in a lot of different activities sports wise. This is right up there,” Paul Walderzak said.

“I didn't know I was the first player from Nouvel to get inducted so that's awesome. I'm just glad to be able to represent Saginaw and also to represent Nouvel,” Tony Jackson said.

Vicki White is the only woman in the class of 2016. In the late 70s, the All-American swimmer was the first female from Saginaw County to earn an athletic scholarship to the Big Ten.

“It’s wonderful and especially since swimming is a non-spectator individual minor sport. It’s wonderful,” White said.

Joining Vicki White, Tony Jackson, Paul Walderzak and Dale Gooding in this year's class is Carl "Jack" Bauer, Pat Brady, Loren Dietrich, the Frankenmuth State Champion Football teams of 1968 and 69, the Saint Mary's Cathedral State Champion basketball team of 1952-53 and the Fordney Club of Saginaw.
