Man charged with kidnapping, assault outside bar

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan man has been charged with kidnapping, sex crimes and assault in an incident outside a local restaurant and bar.

Jeffrey Wendorf of Decker, in Sanilac County, is accused of attacking a 31-year-old woman outside Sunrise Sunset Food and Spirits in Mayville on Nov. 6.

The Tuscola County Prosecuting Attorney said that Wendorf attacked the woman in the parking lot and has issued the following charges.

  • Count 1:  Kidnapping (Life Maximum)
  • Count 2:  Unlawful Imprisonment  (15-year Maximum)
  • Count 3:  Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm  (10-year Maximum)
  • Count 4:  Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree Assault  (5-year Maximum)
  • Count 5:  Aggravated Assault (1 year Maximum)

Wendorf was arraigned and had bond set at $700,000 cash/surety.

He’s scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 21.
