SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A teen runaway traded in his bike for a truck and sparked a chase with police.

Saginaw County Sheriff Bill Federspiel told TV5 that at around 1:45 a.m. deputies were called to S. Champin Road in Brady Township after a man said someone had stolen his pick-up from his home.

That caused a chase with deputies into Shiawassee County and back into Saginaw County before a 14-year-old was taken into custody.

Investigators say the teen, who is from Brady Township, had taken off from home on his bike. He pedaled about 6 miles until he came across the pick-up.

That’s when officials said he threw his bike in the bed of the truck and took off.

The teen was charged in juvenile court today for fleeing and eluding and unlawfully driving a motor vehicle.
