LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A man has been charged after a woman’s body was found dismembered and buried near a home.

The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department was called to a home on Davison Road in Elba Township on Nov. 9.

When deputies arrived they immediately found what appeared to be a fresh grave site, and uncovered a woman’s body.

Investigators now say the victim is 37-year-old Amy Kagen from Flint.

On Nov. 10, 36-year-old Rodney Tureaud from Flint, who was an acquaintance of the Davison Road homeowner, was developed as a person of interest.

His Flint home was searched, and he was taken into custody later that day.

On Nov. 12 he was charged with disinterment and mutilation of a dead body, tampering with evidence and habitual offender.

Tureaud remains in the Lapeer County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

Investigators report the woman's death is "suspicious" but autopsy results are not yet available.

Investigators do not believe the homeowner was involved.
