SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A battle between firefighters and policemen hit the ice for its 10th anniversary and the showdown is all in the name of charity.

Pattie Kloha came to watch her husband participate in the Guns N’ Hoses hockey game at the Dow Event Center.

“People get excited about it! They enjoy it! It's so fun to watch!” she said.

For nearly a decade the Guns N’ Hoses charity game has been dropping the puck to help local organizations, raising well over $80,000 so far.

Liz Gohm sponsors the event every year but doesn't mind picking sides.

“I would love to see the firefighters win! This battle has been going on for 10 years, like I said. And I'm looking forward to a really good game,” Gohm said.

The game this weekend raised more than $5,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Cindy Clark with the organization said the proceeds will go to a very important cause.

“It’s amazing. We are able to use the funds to send kids to camp and we can help support patients so when they go to clinic they can see multiple doctors at once,” Clark said.

Kloha said even though she is rooting for the hoses, everyone that comes to this event is a winner.

“And there is a Spirit game afterward so you get two great games,” she said.
