A local woman living out of a trailer on her property just wants her home back.

However, a contractor renovating her home never finished the job and left it in disrepair. She signed a contract for the work through the city of Saginaw, but when her calls went unanswered she contacted TV5.

"We've got beautiful homes in Saginaw. I don't see any beauty in what this guy has done to my home," Angela Brooks said.

She is upset. She said the work that should have been wrapped up two months ago is still ongoing. Her house has been around since 1916.

Brooks entered into a contract with the city of Saginaw to have it rehabbed under a federal program. The plumbing and electric isn't complete and she's a part time resident in her own home.

"I want my house finished. I want it done," she said.

TV5 went to city hall to ask the tough questions. City officials painted a much different picture about the situation.

"Totally surprised. We don't have any formal complaint in the system from her. And as far as I know she's been happy and satisfied with the progress. She's been a part of the progress the entire time," city spokesperson Kanah Franklin said.

Franklin said Brooks is taking part in a program called the Full Scale Housing Rehabilitation Program. The federally-funded program is designed to bring older homes up to code at no cost to the owner, keeping them affordable for the city's lower income residents.

"The contractor has said he needs one week," Franklin said.

Frankling said Brooks knew the city would not meet the 90 day goal to finish her home due to unforeseen issues. Franklin claims Brooks was fine with that and vows the work will be done right.

Brooks insists the city can do better for her and her century-old house.

"Get this man in here. Have him finish and get out of my home. Because if this is what you get for $72,000, I should've waited and just did one room at a time," she said.
