Sharing Tree brings Christmas joy to local families

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

You can help bring the joy of Christmas to families in need this year and all it takes is adding another gift to your shopping list.

The United Way of Midland County is hosting its 26th annual Sharing Tree Program to help the community this holiday season and throughout the year.

The Sharing Tree helps meet the basic needs of families struggling with utilities, transportation, household items and food.

Several trees are set up at locations throughout the community, including United Way, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Northwood University, Wildfire Credit Union and many area churches, non-profits and local corporations.

Computers To Go will also host a tree and serve as the gift drop-off location in the Midland Mall.

Those who want to help out a family in their community can pick up a tag from one of the locations, purchase the item on the tag, then return it wrapped to any Sharing Tree location.

The deadline is Sunday, Dec. 5.

United Way will continue to accept gifts at their downtown office location at 220 W. Main Street through Dec. 22.
