FRANKENMUTH, MI (WNEM) -

A local football team made school history as they're on their way to the state semi-finals for the first time in nearly two decades.

The Frankenmuth Eagles are on the road to Marquette where they'll play the Menominee Maroons.

Quarterback Jared Davis said the team isn't the only group making the long trek to the Upper Peninsula.

“Frankenmuth has a nice fan-base. We just have a lot of supporters and from what I’ve heard there's a lot of people going a lot of people carpooling. The U.P.’s going to be tough to beat but I think we're gonna’ have a nice chance,” Davis said.

Fans lined up to cheer the team on as they headed out at eight this morning, hoping to take advantage of the nice driving weather today.

Both teams are 11-1 as they take the field Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
