SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

President-elect Donald Trump said he wants to impose restrictions on imports and bring automotive jobs back to the United States.

It's too soon to know what impact Trump's policies will have on the auto industry and that uncertainty has many concerned.

"I'm hopeful that it's going to be positive for the economy in general," said Patrick Curry, owner of Fullerton Tool Company.

The Saginaw County based business creates molds for Nexteer and the big three U.S. automakers. Curry has more than 150 people working for him. He expects that number to grow if the auto industry grows in the years ahead.

"It'll be good for manufacturers in general in the United States," Curry said.

Trump campaigned to end NAFTA, a trade deal he was critical of.

Elgie Bright, professor at Northwood University, wants to see Trump lower regulation.

"The less regulation you have on that when the entrepreneur is unencumbered, we believe growth happens," Bright said.

Trump also vowed to repeal and replace Obamacare. That's a move that Curry believes will have a positive impact on the economy.

"I believe that will help both businesses in general as far as our cost of healthcare, providing those benefits to our workforce," Curry said.
