Mid-Michigan fans react to possible Pistons move

AUBURN HILLS, MI (WNEM) -

The Detroit Pistons are spending their last season in the burbs.  At least that's been the speculation for months.

Tuesday morning Pistons' officials will hold a news conference at Cass Tech High School, reportedly to confirm a plan to move to downtown Detroit to join the Red Wings at Little Caesar's Arena.

While the move would be another boon to the downtown revitalization effort, it would be a burden to most Mid-Michigan fans who would be asked to travel an extra 32 miles to attend games.

"It's a bit of a disappointment," said Bryan Bond, of Flushing.  "The Auburn Hills location is a good location and it's convenient.  Real close to the expressway."

"The distance is definitely going to make a difference.  Now it'll be about twice as far for me," said Meaghan Williams, of Flint.

Ethan Lloyd, of Fenton, however, preferred to look at the big picture.

"The owners of the Detroit sports teams have worked hard to get people to go downtown to revitalize it.  Everybody has to sacrifice to make sure there's improvements all around," Lloyd said.
