FLINT, MI (AP) -

The PepsiCo Foundation is giving a $570,000 grant in support of two new Food Bank Community Help Centers in Flint.

The centers opened last month and provide bottled water, fresh foods and produce and physical and mental health services to Flint residents dealing with the city's lead water crisis.

Flint switched from Detroit's water system to the Flint River in 2014 to save money, but corrosive water caused lead to leach from aging pipes into homes. Doctors have detected elevated levels of lead in hundreds of children.

The city has since returned to Detroit's system as it awaits completion of a separate water pipeline. Crews also are replacing old water lines in thousands of homes.

Flint residents are urged to use bottled water or filtered tap water.
